how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal information when you
engage with our website, programs, platform, and related tools and services
(collectively, the “Services”). It also explains the rights and choices you
have with respect to your data. This Privacy Policy applies whether you’re
using the Services as an individual or through a firm, company, school, or
other organization.
By accessing or using any part of the Services (including any enterprise or institutional access provided through your organization), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and consented to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out — see the “Contact us” section below.

Information we collect automatically
When you use rubi’s Services, we may automatically collect certain technical data, including:
- Device type, browser type, and operating system

If you access rubi through a firm, company, school, or organization, we may receive information about you from that institution — such as your name, email, role, level of experience, enrollment status, or other background information. We may also receive information from third-party tools integrated with rubi in connection with providing, improving, and marketing the Services (e.g., Vimeo, Stripe, Google Analytics, or marketing platforms if you opt in to receive updates from us).
How we use your information
- To provide the Services. This includes giving you access to the programs and content you’ve enrolled in, tracking your progress, allowing instructors to review your work, and enabling any interactive features or assessments, as applicable.
- To communicate with you. We send important service emails (e.g., registration confirmations, access instructions, program updates), respond to questions, and, if you’ve opted in, send promotional or educational emails about other rubi offerings. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To process payments. If you pay for a program, we use your information to process your payment securely via a third-party processor. We don’t store your full credit card details.
- To analyze, improve, and market the Services. We use data such as engagement metrics and feedback to understand how users interact with our content and make the experience better. We also review assignment submissions and other program outputs (even in non-graded settings) to assess effectiveness, identify trends, and improve future curriculum design. We may use aggregated, de-identified data externally to provide insights about program outcomes, user engagement, or educational trends to third parties, including for research or marketing purposes. We do not share individual results or personal details for third-party marketing.
- To ensure compliance and legal obligations. This includes enforcing our Terms of Service, detecting misuse or security risks, and complying with laws and regulations.
- To support enterprise partners. If your access to rubi is provided through a law firm, company, school, or other organization, we may share information such as individual progress, submissions, or performance data with your organization in accordance with the terms of our enterprise agreement.
How we share information
- With service providers. We work with trusted vendors who help us deliver the Services (e.g., platform hosting, analytics, email communication, payment processing). These providers are only given access to the data necessary to do their jobs.
- With your organization. If your law firm, school, employer, or other organization has arranged access to rubi for you, they may receive certain information about your usage (like completion rates, assignment submissions, or feedback summaries) in accordance with the terms of that engagement.
- With instructors, mentors, or rubi collaborators. If you’re participating in a cohort, guided session, or other program, your instructors will have access to relevant participation data (e.g., submissions or discussion responses) to support your learning.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect rubi’s rights or the rights of others.
- In connection with a business transfer. If rubi is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction — subject to the promises in this Privacy Policy.
We do not authorize third parties to use your information for their own purposes.
